Keith Haring: The Marriage of Heaven and Hell! |
Barely aged and hardly old
An artist died so young.
31 years and childish yet
taken from the world!
Of graffiti and amusing art,
A smile on a child's face,
Battling brave the hellish disease,
Activist in the face of AIDS!
His marriage of Heaven and Hell,
Made me halt for a while,
I stared at it unbelievably
and my face lit up in a smile!
And I wondered how it went for him,
To paint something so amusing!
Written for Magpie Tales: Mag 232!
i imagine he smiled
ReplyDeletein hope of the future

DeleteLovely Arushi, I think he was very pleased knowing he would generate much discussion.
ReplyDeleteprobably!! he does have beautiful art!
DeleteI hope his muse danced with each brushstroke, and his soul was brighten by every shape, and that he imagined the smile his work would put on the faces to come... So young, indeed.
ReplyDeletei hope so to Magalay!! you said it so beautifully!
DeleteChildlike images, maybe, but far from childish thoughts behind them, and I think you caught this duality in your words.
ReplyDeletethank you Jinksy... i can barely do justice to an artist so good!
DeleteA brilliant take on the prompt. Those who know that they have very little, limited time left on this earth, due to a chronic disease such as AIDS, are most often the ones who manage to live life to the fullest. Their stories and legacies abound and it really makes us think what is stopping us from being equally creative and happy and driven like our counterparts.
ReplyDeleteBrilliantly penned. Loved it. :)
