Up and down
and up again, and down,
as the clock swings around
counting seconds and minutes aloud,
counting hours in a sweep
and days in a leap,
as years pass by
the Lepidopteras swing
on a see-saw made in heaven,
with earth in between
and time passing into oblivion!
I love the link between time and butterflies -- there is an endless feeling to watching they maneuver through the garden. Great poem!
ReplyDeletethank you phylor! :)
DeleteTime does pass into oblivion, I like that notion, we recall the past but the exact moments are gone, I love that you have given me that idea to contemplate. Time may live on, and the past is old time, but ours is finite.
ReplyDeleteyes a lot to do in a finite time Michael!
Deleteha. i had to look up Lepidopteras...did not know that name...
ReplyDeletethis has a cool ring of myth...like the turtle on whose back the world rests
butterflies are cool...smiles.

Thank you Jo hannah.. thats really sweet of you :)
DeleteI have to agree with jo-hanna on the coffee! I like to think that butterflies randomness in flight is a defence mechanism. Great rhyme!
ReplyDeleteSo quickly those seconds become minutes become hours...as the years pass by!
ReplyDeleteTrue mary time does pass by too fast...
Deleteyou've nicely captured the passage of time with wonderful imagery...
ReplyDeleteThank you Sumana..

Thank you..
DeleteI loved the idea that moths and butterflies keep time. I may borrow this.
ReplyDeletePlease feel free to ! :)
DeleteThere is a deep meaning or idea if you can call it, going up and down with your Lepidopteras. A mere 'Butterfly' would just not have made the message clear nor perfect. Good job. In fact this is too good!
ReplyDeleteThank you Anand... am glad you enjoyed it :)
DeleteTime flies indeed. You have haut expressed this with sweet and evocative words and images.
