Natsukashi!

"Unknown"
Image found HERE.
Her hands swirled
Her eyes closed
As she flew in the air,
Earth far from her toes,
A flourishing swirl,
Her arms flexed,
Gathering the world,
In a single twirl...
The {taut} bun,
The frilly {little} skirt
Mattered not a {bit};
As she flew again
Up and up
Gravity in disdain!
The world watched
Flabbergasted, awestruck,
But she paid not a heed,
For she was one with music,
Moulding to the beat!
The oneness
of a long lost love
Of passion and fear!
The oneness of loss and despair
Of many a hopeful tears!
Rejuvenated and happy,
Sad, nostalgic, carefree,
Heart bursting with emotions
Trapped for too long,
She felt all at {once}!
Tearing her apart,
As she {sliced} the air-
Her feet touching
her {golden} hair,
Natsukashi searing,
Her heart beat racing,
Rush of adrenaline,
Over and over again!
What if she could never stop?!

  4. smiles... i bet she could dance on and on and on... love how being immersed in the music we manage to battle things that we struggle with as well
think about highlighting our own beat in this to make it visible for us like gay suggests?

  6. there is def a nice energy to this...i am married to a ballerina though and i would expect nothing less of a poem about ballet....i like your stresses you put in on words...i think there are others you could add as well....to give this a rather flight of the bumblebee feel....for instance

    Of passion and fear!

you stressed passion, i would also stress fear to give it a little up and down feel to it...
maybe even in the over and over line toward the end...the right stresses in that line will give it the spinning feel....

  7. And that was a fear of the "red shoes," perhaps she would start dancing, and never stop.

  8. OH MY GOSH..synchronistically you capture what i feel when i FREE STYLE BALLET DANCE ALL MY FEELINGS IN EXPLOSION OF DANCE..with an audience watching my sober..DANCE OF LIFE..and when they are drunk enough..they come to join me in wild fire dance!

Ballet..dance in general..is such a wonderful way to let the feelings flow so naturally from head to toe..so relaxed as there is no one to please but head to toe!

    Free style..

@ least for me..no one judges me but foot and toe!

  9. Ah, the sad ballerina... Dancing, music, the poetic muse, all expressions of joy and beauty. Do ballerinas dream of flying?

    1. I think they do... i think every1 dreams of flying and yet those who can lift themselves like feathers off the earth even more so...

  10. In some ways the ballet dancers, especially the men with their huge leaps, defy gravity with their musculature alone--& come closest to flying than any of us. A beautiful poem, & the several kinds of rhythms you suggested worked for me.

  11. Ah .. like THE RED SHOES...like your ballet references. There is much music in this piece. It doesn't end exactly where your lines end..it flows as music beneath the ballerina does..it is full of iambs and anapests primarily yet you enjamb some trochees along the way...one line stands out as a break..a kind of tour en air as it were when the ballerina becomes airborne and the beats of the music become like tom-toms to emphaisze that leap - "The world watched
Flabbergasted, awestruck"..in this phrase there is strong accents on WORLD WATCHED FLAB GAST AWE STRUCK - BAM BAM BAM di BAM di BAM BAM - cool, huh?

  16. What a beautiful poem Arushi. I am fascinated by the ballerina. When I was a child I wanted to be one. Maybe all girls do? I think the rhythm in this goes wonderfully with the words and the movement of dance.
