Me, The Dear Diary!

"Unknown"
A very old diary of mine I found while spring cleaning this year. I think it belong to the year 2006!! :)

Ah! I was kept away in little locks and cages,
So many hearts sprawled across my so many pages!
I remember one particular day when little Ginnie cried,
And smudged the deep indigo ink even as she scribed!
Years later now, what she wrote is quite unknown,
Maybe she forgot as well as she left me long alone.
My yellow pages memorised her scrawly letters,
The words of her heart and soul strung nicely together...
That day they bullied her so much that she ran away from school,
They ran after her and she hid until the noon.
The next day her parents came and teachers made a story
To hide the evil vices of the rich donating family!
She was scolded and harassed and later that fall,
She left the town and left the school for Saint Paul!
I remember every little thing every little detail,
For she always said the truth to me in each of her tales...
She left the school, and she ditched me too forever,
For I was now just a part of something bad to remember!!

  1. That sounds like one of those scenarios that only a diary (and the writer) could fully understand.
    Well written

  2. What a very sad tale, the kind of story that I really can imagine being written in a diary, something that would long be remembered and not often spoken about. The kind of private memory a diary always receives well.

  3. How wonderful of a diary to hold the pain until it can be left behind. You have captured this well and the details of bullying are pretty awful!

  4. sad that the relationship fell apart because of something outside of your control...because you were attached to the memory of the bad place....agree with moonie, on the diary being the place to process out those feelings....

  5. Another excellent poem, Arushi. A sad story really. "teachers made a story / To hide the evil vices of the rich donating family!" - as a teacher, I am sorry this should have happened to you. Cover ups are always wrong.

  11. I suppose diaries do show that we are more that one person and often it is the person we don't want to be. It's much better to write poetry and keep people guessing.
