Ya'aburnee!

"Unknown"
Tomb of Firuz Shah Tughlaq at Hauz Khas Village!

It's Death as I recall, a rather big surprise,
For few it's beautiful, just a change of guise!
For some a paltry fear of the approaching unknown,
Others a dreadful severance from what they thought their own!

And no one wins over Death, It shall definitely arrive,
But when it comes darling for you, I don't want to be alive!
Ya'aburnee, no matter how painful it gets,
Old and crippled, yet all I fear is Your Death!

I know I love you more, and you've never loved me true,
For you have cheated too often, Death is how I pardon you!

  1. What an interesting take Arushi. I agree death is on every ones list of experience to go through. I was intrigued by the pardon given in death, is that like a form of forgiveness?

  2. There is such a wonderful rhythm to your writing makes it a pleasure to read

I fear the loss of loved ones more than my own death and indeed it would be death to lose my husband

  3. Arushi, long may he live and suffer! Your poet can watch, but love him still. Scoundrel that he is !!!
Nice rhyme and rhythm, it reads very nice.

I like your tomb picture. Sultan Firuz Shah Tughlaq must have quite a person, responsible for the Tughlaq dynasty. I learn. I had forgotten how much influence the Turks had at one time in the near east.

al, ad, abu short words proceding the city names also have meaning but I don't know what. I might learn again. Our daughter and grand-daughtesr love Dubai. Almost every time they visit they go snow skiing, first on the old course and lately on the new. I would like to go also.

  5. Death is how I forgive! Aaiiee! i felt that once, that it was easier to forgive since he died. I have since felt guilty. Can't win through losing--but what a marvelous poem!

  7. So many stories weaved in this one! I see the love--feel it deep and raw--the despair, the sense of loss... even a hint of murderous harm. What a kick!

  8. as a mother, I do not want to bury a child - no matter what age. I understand your poem was about a lover, and I adore your twist at the end.
