Cookie Theif

"Unknown"
Wonderland in Dubai!
"Did you steal the cookies again?"
My mother furrowed her brows,
That in itself scared me and I lied-
Shaking my head in denial,
My mouth stuffed with one too many,
And a few in my hands behind my back,
As many a soft little plump hand can carry!
My mouth littered with sprinkles
And the whiff of chocolate around,
I gulped and swallowed one aloud!
She crossed her arms standing tall,
Scary and beautiful much like my doll,
I gaped at her as she pierced me with her eyes,
Waiting for me to give away the lies...
I think she got tired and took me to bed,
Where I ate the rest of cookies till I slept!

Imaginary Garden With Real Toads

My Partner In Crime!

Tip toe on my bare feet
I walked down the stairs,
hoping the floorboard wouldn't creak,
As I sneak to reach the chocolate eclairs;
kept atop the highest shelf,
intentionally away from my little reach ,
I climb on a wooden chair,
Strain my ankles, stretch my arms,
to reach the tempting treat!
And running amok helter-skelter,
As it comes pelting down,
Licking my chocolate rich fingers,
As mom puts the lights on-
A smile hidden in her angry frown!

Running wild in the garden,
Playing with a choo choo train,
Bare feet in my dirty frock,
And dancing in the rain!
Little mommy came shouting out,
Pulling her hair in loving frustration,
warning me from catching a fever.
I sneezed and sped bringing her out as well,
She was soaked soon as the rain continued to swell.
We both caught the darling cold,
And our noses turned clownishly red,
But she was the one who fed me soup,
As I cosily slept!

Climbing on the guava trees,
bare feet as they became ripe and red,
Munching on some perched atop,
While tossing some on mama's head,
She furrowed her brows and looked up at me,
I smiled and sent her more,
She was soon eating a guava too,
The delicious pearly fruit!
And then the owner sighted us
And I dropped down on her shoulders,
We ran giggling like the wind,
to escape his angry clamour.
Later I know she got busted
And gave back some of the squander,
Yet came back giggling secretively,
Having enjoyed our little adventure!

Too much work! :(

Today is a ordinary gloomy day,
The sky is cast, the sun is veiled,
I am hopeless, clueless, with nothing to do,
I scribbled many a poems and gibberish too,
And yet the soggy past hangs in front of my eyes,
The future seemed to loop ceaselessly by,
My present repeats itself every single day,
I am bored, strung out, unhappy, in dismay...
The music disheartening, the lyrics seem silly,
The gym is tiring, the walk too lonely,
The food unpleasing, hunger seems dead,
The white covers of the room colourless and drab!

I miss my mother's fruit custard pie,
My father's melodious car ride,
My hubby's hearty breathtaking embrace,
The house full of flowery decor and lace.
My mother constantly scolding me,
My father watching football on TV,
Or Mr. Husband trashing the house around,
While I find something dirty to freak about!
Fighting over the TV remote too much,
Arguing over what to cook for lunch,
Running amok in search of the phone,
Lost in some corner, unnoticed unknown!

I sit alone in the hotel room,
Its quite and peaceful, not a moan,
The custard is too perfectly served,
Decorated, yet not enough!
The football game is of course ignored,
As I watch some random comedy show,
For no one fights for the remote,
Its just me me all alone,
In the stark white perfect uncluttered room,
No one to mess the perfect gloom,
As I sit and stare at my phone
Waiting for a call from my faraway home!

Bestest Holi Ever! (2014)

"Unknown"
I know this comes in a little late, but it's been long overdue-
I nodded in mute despair. Mr. Husband just informed me he din't get a leave on Holi!
My plans seemed to be trickling!
Whatever happened that day was never planned and happened with the sudden surprise of Joy, dance colours and songs...

Started the day looking like this with Mr. Husband having coffee at Costa (chhoti Holi)

Chhoti Holi at home with mother-in-law painted blue by our neighbours!!
Last moment we made a road trip Vrindavan- the city of colours! Here Holi is not a one day occasion!! It's celebrated for the whole week... Colors every where and Krishna bhajans echoed across the city!

Mom with that absurd expression, papa busy on the phone, with Prempal and Premchand (I always get confused as to who is who) in Vrindavan

Mommy trying to convince papa to let go of the phone!
And now it's Mommy busy on the phone!!

A cute calf and me coloring her!!

That cap was a Holi gift!!
On our way back to Delhi from Vrindavan we came upon a Aryasamaj Gurukul, Manjhavali and what followed was a complete chaos! A Holi so full of colours, and rain dance, loud songs, hot music, so much of dancing, so much of laughter, a complete transformation from looking normal to looking like a leprechaun, lots of gujiaa and the raucous of about 50 kids trying to paint us in every color possible!!! I had so much fun I'll never forget!! :))
Mommy, me and the headmaster of the gurukul who was woken up from his mid afternoon nap with a slush of coloured cold water by his students!!

colors so Bright!!

Oh! thats me in the centre and right of me is Mommy and we all are sooooo Happy!! :)

Right after this the head master (the most colorful guy in the centre) was dragged by his students and thrust into a puddle... I guess they wanted to vent out their revenge for all the punishments in that one day!!  Was fun watching though!! ;))

They were amazing!! :D

Dancing (Weird pose) :/

The Sunshine Garden

"Arushi"

My mother in a corn field taken near New Delhi (my Sunshine)

I sat upon a stool in a garden of corn,
The winter was dawning the summer almost gone,
The ears on full bloom and sunshine yellow,
The garden was bright and beautiful mellow...
The air was rich with the scent of pines,
The falling leaves, the innocent vines...
The breeze swept over the cold water brook,
Carrying the song of a lovesick rook,
The soft patter of water on the white round pebbles,
The delicate delight of the distant dribbles...
The vivid view, the blissful scents,
The single birds passionate laments,
The falling waters softest sound,
Untouched, pure, the virgin bounds...

I played a note on my little black flute,
Short and timid, just a tiny toot,
Anxious of what it may sound there,
Disturbing the harmony of the air...
It blended in like a rich white pearl,
Sits on the bust of a charming girl...
And a song then I played utterly contented,
Incessantly as the notes fitted,
It grew with the lyrics and music undefined,
The rising pitches and chords refined...
And it rose with the breeze of the coming winter,
Overwhelming, persistent sometimes bitter,
It talked of people and their unrelenting search,
For love and care and laughter and mirth!
Of a single mans wishes And his lonely escape,
Of the innumerable riches and all that he craved...
And so the bright mellow garden of corn,
Drowned in the song of a single mans mourn.
The vivid views hazed, the scents blissful no more,
The single birds passionate laments were sour,
The beautiful garden in which I was sitting,
Had no more the virgin beauty worth a shilling...

There And Back Again...

"Arushi"
Mom and me Selfie :)
When I finally reached home I was tired to the bone!
I had not exactly slept well in anticipation of the coming day, had woken up early, put my singular room into array, gone to the office to attend the boring lectures of my training, rushed back home at 3 o' clock, packed my luggage, only just managed to catch my flight to Delhi... At Delhi it took some time to find the cab I had hired to Dehra... finally I was on my way to my hometown. The road was a mess... the journey was a bumpy ride and a tough one. Which means I did'nt sleep again this night! I had hollows under my eyes... my hair was haywire... and I was restless, sleepy and concsiously unaware of my surroundings...
With a sigh of relief I set foot at my place finally after a whole tedious day and 8 hours of  journey.
....
My mom rushed at me... All of a sudden my breath left my frame, her silent heartbeat resonated in my veins, her gentle yet strong arms engulfed me in a huge whirlwind of emotions, her soothing voice filled my brain, her soft smell pushed away all the nostalgia of the past three months into the unknown and I was not tired anymore... This is all I came back for and my journey was worth it....
