Rest In Peace.

"Unknown"
Google Images

To rest under the heaps of earth cast by my very own,
A tear awakened the dying seed into a ponderous flower,
The weight of many a years hurled gently on my coffin,
And now I can finally rest in a wholesome heavenly bliss!

To rest under the salty waves of the beautiful blue sea,
Tossed aboard by my sweet children when I could no more be.
To be nibbled by the colourful fishes scaling across the oceans,
To wonder the deep mysterious seas and finally ride the currents...

To rest upon a pile of firewoods stacked neatly below me,
To be put alight by my very own son in tears and weary.
To rise up to the open skies like a furious dancing flame,
Finally flying free from all the burdens, fears and blames!

To finally rest in peace wherever I may be,
Tired from a long journey through unexpected realms,
To not breathe and not move, and not think anymore,
To not be scared or sad neither happy nor sore!
To just be,
FREE!

Imaginary Garden With Real Toads

Broken Yet Mended!

Google Images.

I sat at the end of the hall,
My seat rising a little above all,
And it all started with the tap of my feet,
The involuntary ripple in my fingers,
As they play along the music on my knees,
And my shoes clicked on the timber!

And I closed my eyes as the acoustics rose,
And echoed across the hall,
Crisscrossing in many a random forms,
Departing the stage from wall to wall!
And images of unfathomed depths,
Arose in my puzzling mind,
Rising from forgotten past,
Of what was long left behind!
Or created from imagined future,
Beautiful, benign, rich and lustrous,
Deceiving the reality,
Raising hopeless hope within me!
And lost I was in the depths of mind,
Furtively changing yet sublime,
Watching her live, feeling her death,
Laughing her joys, sorrows bereft!
Dancing to her songs, her wishes on my eyes,
Wondering along, lost in her denies,
Trusting her grasp, sensing her closeness,
Sharing her tears in the ultimate oneness.
As the music rose happy and joyful,
My eyes were wet an sorrowful...

The music stopped, the echoes ended,
The lights turned on and I was mended!

Homecoming...

"Unknown"
The River Ganga!

My muffled footsteps move fast,
Faster than they were slow when leaving
my front door behind
for a long long time,
But all that is in the past...
I forget the squeamish feeling in my heart,
The tears brimming in my eyes,
the lump in my throat,
All that is long past...
For now I am back home,
The same old poppies grow in my garden,
The same old wind chimes welcome me back,
The same old jute rug at the doorstep,
for I am back home at last...
My mind blurs with memories of a phone call,
the call to report back thus,
Eradicating a smile on my face,
Mercenaries of joy and happiness,
And all of that whirred within so fast...
A tear again in my eyes
as they see the open doors,
My mother rushing out for me,
To engulf me in her warm arms...
But these are tears of happiness,
These are tears of joy,
For all those days away from home,
Are in distant shadows cast!

Clicked in the open skies of my hometown back in India!

Flightless Eagle! I met him in a dessert safari in Dubai.
The owner took him around for pictures among the tourists!
I felt really bad when I later glanced at this picture for the poor
thing!  Maybe I shouldn't have aided the owner with this picture!!
:(
I wish to soar in the boundless skies,
And touch the light blue heavens,
The joy of spreading my dynamic wings,
To whizz past daunting Havens!

To hear the rustle of the whispering wind,
In my delicate greying feathers,
To stretch my hollow marrowless bones,
And feel the infinite pleasure!

To be freed from these chains and shackles
Bound to an old man's hand,
To stretch my rusty wings and fly,
Over deserts, seas and land!

Away from these wretched humans,
Who make me flightless for money,
Away from their thoughtless breed,
Away from Earth, utterly free~

~Pink Mist~

"Unknown"
I stood in my muddy shoes for a moment quite shocked,
I looked above at the sound quite ignorant, my fate locked,
By vicious mankind their heart sold in for power and lust,
In seconds I would obliterate and be Pink Mist!
I am hit in a heartbeat and I feel nothing,
In a moment liberated from being an earthling,
I turn to a wisp of flesh and blood,
So little, so less, no more than mud,
Not that I mind being free from this tormenting world,
But what of my little ones, they've barely lived at all,
I am scattered fragments of a human body so soon,
Killed for no reason, no fault, no boon!
I hope my little ones die right now,
Than to live sickly in a world so foul!
I am a Pink Mist somewhere far beyond,
Liberated from the world, from all it's bonds!

~Living~

"Unknown"
A birthday celebration I could view from my hotel room!
20's joyfully dreaming,
believing the world
is a fairytale and living...
Beaming and dancing,
To every song and tune,
That speaks of love
and heartbreaks,
to loss quite immune,
Until you are hit by 30's
grey hair and responsibilities,
work and pandemonium,
money, bills unwholesome!
Searching for milk in fridge,
And medicines in top shelves!

Digging Diamonds!

"Unknown"
Image found Here!
Living a mortal wealthy life,
Never to die in hunger or strife,
What would you know of our grieves,
As we labour for every single meal?
In the depths of earth digging for you,
The precious glittering raw jewel,
That sits now on your delicate finger,
Adorned in gold, dazzling shimmer,
Given to you by your lover in fire
Of passion and ego and sensual desire!
That same stone, my lovely lady!
Once rested unadorned muddy and dreary,
In the depths of far away African lands,
Where I slave only to save my hands,
From being ruthlessly slashed away
By rich men, much like your fiancé!
Oh no! Don't get me wrong Lady,
Who am I to blame your princess-like story,
While I here struggle to keep me alive,
My children lost, my missing wife,
My world covered with earth and sweat,
Digging and digging, yet no rest,
Surrounded by many a slaves like me,
Hopelessly wishing in vain to be free,
Others just gave away any remaining hope,
To ever come out of these dark potholes...
If only you were to forsake these diamonds
For love, humanity, another's wounds,
Maybe I'll see hope as well,
But for now I have none to spell!

Mysterious crooked crone,
Wrapped in layers of tattered shawls,
Trudges upon the muddy road,
Makes her way to the wall,
Where I stood hunched and deeply thoughtless,
Not looking nor waiting,
Not working or watching,
Just standing there quite pointless...
I din't really notice her
Until she was nose to nose,
And scared the living crap
Out of me and I jumped on my toes!
A bony harsh finger pointed
disagreeably close to my eye
she advised me not to stand around
And waste my precious time!
I shrugged and stepped back
Then turned around and ran,
As her creepy shrill voice,
echoed ominously behind my back!
"You mark my word Dear child of God,
For you shall regret this day,
For some day there will be no time,
for leisure, work or play!"
So true she was, so many years ago,
Now I sit and think in my bed,
For time is just what is short,
As I await my approaching Death,
In despair, no leisure, work nor sport!

His Canvas!

Sunrise near Barlogunj!

I awoke one morning to find a little drop on my nose,
Of water or of pine sap I'm still quite unsure.
I coughed and sneezed as a chilly wind swept by,
The fragrance of the pine trees carried in a sigh!
I heard in a distance the song of many a birds,
Singing to the rising sun in many a different chords.
And then nearby was a small galloping stream,
Untouched and virgin, like a irresistible dream.
The rain drops from the stormy night lit upon the leaves,
Like translucent rich pearls on the fingers of Eve.
The smell of fresh earth filled me with memories,
As the vermillion of the rising sun filtered through the trees.,
The mesmerising beauty filled my sleep infected eyes,
The many colours of greens came upon me rushing by!
And I was dazed that early morning at the candid beauty,
Of God's very own canvas and His very own artistry!

Serpentine!

"Unknown"

A tiny Twig Snake in Mangalore Zoo!

Slipping and slithering,
Engulfing little Jerry,
Squirming and flexing,
To digest the quarry.
Boneless and twisted,
Venomous and viscious,
Coiling to rest,
Crushing to death!

Coiled thrice on Lord Shiva,
Depicting past, present, future,
Vasuki reminds of three cycles,
Of life's timed out nature!
Prayed by many,
And never killed,
Hiding in cavities,
Cold blooded and still!

Sneaking upon a prey unaware,
Little fools roaming without a care,
Are engulfed within a single strike,
Swallowed in one wholesome bite.
Be careful this monsoon,
Watch your carefree step,
Hop above but do not trip,
Else the resting serpent flips!!

Rain!

"Unknown"

A series of water logged clouds over Himalayas c
alled a squall line.
The water logged clouds
dripping down,
Constant pitter patter
on my window-sill!
The fine trickles
Sneaking around
the rounded stones
In a hurry to reach
the earth within!
The tiny seed,
A memory indeed
Of a long forgotten
Old tree,
Chopped down by the
Relentless woodcutters,
Creeps to life
And returns
Above the soil,
Plunging through the
Softened earth,
Forgiving everyone in its wake!
Of hope,
Love,
Loss
Death
And life!
For She is back!

Me, The Dear Diary!

"Unknown"
A very old diary of mine I found while spring cleaning this year. I think it belong to the year 2006!! :)

Ah! I was kept away in little locks and cages,
So many hearts sprawled across my so many pages!
I remember one particular day when little Ginnie cried,
And smudged the deep indigo ink even as she scribed!
Years later now, what she wrote is quite unknown,
Maybe she forgot as well as she left me long alone.
My yellow pages memorised her scrawly letters,
The words of her heart and soul strung nicely together...
That day they bullied her so much that she ran away from school,
They ran after her and she hid until the noon.
The next day her parents came and teachers made a story
To hide the evil vices of the rich donating family!
She was scolded and harassed and later that fall,
She left the town and left the school for Saint Paul!
I remember every little thing every little detail,
For she always said the truth to me in each of her tales...
She left the school, and she ditched me too forever,
For I was now just a part of something bad to remember!!

Return To The Light!

"Unknown"
Setting sun over Sharjah Corniche!
Love in our eyes,
Before us unfolds,
In the heavenly skies,
Stories untold.

The days are falling,
The darkness sets in,
Yet so many young hearts
are still beating!!

As the nights become longer,
The yearning grows stronger,
The love, the passion, the desire
becomes a live fire!!

This poem is written in response to a prompt by Susan for Midweek Motif at Poets United - Light & Dark!

Papa Dear!

"Unknown"
My first dance, My first kiss, My first bear hug!!
My first rose, My first valentine, My very first Love!!
Papa Dear! You hear me loud,
I have swung on those strong arms,
I played with your bushy moustache
of which you were so proud!!
I ruffled your best set hair
just before you went to work,
I knotted your tie queerly but
you happily took it along!!
I stole your pen and you searched around
for hours in your room,
not ever doubting your little one,
for she was your sweet bloom!!
And I grew up smart and quietly,
I din't think it through-
But you scared those awful boys away
keeping me safe and true...
I still don't know how to invest
the wages that I earn,
I still return to you
for emergency funds...
You still trust me with your credit card,
even though I made a few loots,
This poem is also part of Sunday Poetry Pantry at Poets United !
You buy me ugly dresses 'coz they
travel to my boots...
Oh! Papa Dear! I miss those days
when I could clamber up your feet,
and fly like a little bird
and sing to any beat!!
I miss the pink rag doll
you got me for my birthday,
I called her Fatto for she was fat
and loved chocolate icecream!!
Oh! Papa Papa listen to me,
I am still your little princess!
So what if I am married now
and flying to fancy places!?

~ 13 ~

Image taken from Google

13 is a number with better consequences,

I follow it truly for my lucky chances...

A childhood memory takes me back to 13, Old Balbir Road,

Of primary school and paper planes and my pale green toad!

Of a lot of friends and games of cricket, of the 13 runs I made,

In a single over and no wickets was my biggest cricket achievement!

It brings me to my 13th spring when I changed my school,

Made new friends, read more books and learned the new cool...

It was the 13th year of my life when I first met my future Love,

But at the time it was mostly just books and friends and a learning curve!!

Oh! blessed 13 dear people fear you in vain,

In unknown dread and hateful spite, unjustified disdain!!

For you have been my lucky charm, my fortunate blessed karma...

Humanity!

"Unknown"
Captured at Krishna Temple in New Delhi

Humanity is not in asking for your rights,
It lies in the heart of giving other's rights.
Rights are not the immoral demands of an unsatisfied man,
Rights are one's duty and another man's needs!

Religion is not a habit of praying for 5 minutes everyday,
Religion is in the service of the deprived!
Service is not in expecting returns in any manner,
That is just work for which you asked to be payed differently...
Service is in giving all you have which you can give,
Also which is not against consciousness, reason or morality...

Deprived is not a man unsatisfied,
Deprived is a man of needs...

Sentiments are more omnipresent than actions,
And actions more than things...
If service by things is not in your ability,
Service by sentiment is the key to happiness...

Happiness is less in relishing the world for yourself,
And a little more in enjoying others happiness,
And far more in making the unhappy happy again!!
For once if you are sad for the others sadness,
You shall never need to be sad for your own!

If you can't give them anything else,
Give them Love and Care,
But Love is not so much in making the loved happy,
As It is in doing what's good for them...
Lover is not the one who favours his love in the wrongs,
But the one who corrects the flaws as they come...

Flaws don't make people bad forever,
For who is there so flawless in the world?
Be the change you want to see,
And experience the change in the world!!

Abuse not what you have,
For everything you have is given,
And hence its Not yours to Misuse,
Be it the Mind, Body, Heart or Life,
People, Things, Food or TIME...
Don't pray for more,
For you can barely handle what you got...

Give in to the judgement of the universe,
And be free of all the cares and worries.
Believe in God only for yourself,
Not to show the world you're a theist,
For you could be an atheist and yet be loved equally,
Given the same sun and rain, water and earth and air...

Love everyone equally or be a yogi
and care not for anyone including the self...
The world is a very giving place,
She considers us better than we are,
And less bad than we know ourselves to be!!

The Unopened Door!

"Arushi"
A picture taken somewhere in Goa!! I dont really remember the name of the place but it was some old Castle!
The picture of what I may see beyond is yet unknown to me,
I tread upon the glassy floor careful yet eagerly.
I can hear my stomach flip inside as I hear my excitement,
For was it not an old proverb that curiosity killed the cat?
I wish I didn't ever have to decide whether to open the door,
For even I know inside of me it will change my life for good...
I am curious, a bit intrigued, a little excited,
A little scared, a little braved, a little blinded!
I have waged a war aginst myself for a long long time...
I stand here at the brink of adventure reckless and ready for a fight...
I reach ahead to grasp the knob, my mind flooded
With pictures of war and little scuffles of imagined fairytales...
Of butterflies and caravans and children playing in the park,
Of vibrant colours and marigolds of darkening shadows and blood...
Of love and fascination and of lust and dreadful pain,
Of picket fences and green gardens, of hate and disdain...
Swallowing my fears away and shaking in my knees
I finally opened The Unopened Door without any keys!!

Love...

"Arushi"

"Some say love it is a river
that drowns the tender reed ...
Some say love it is a razer
that leaves your soul to bleed ...

Some say love it is a hunger,
an endless aching need...
I say love it is a flower
and only a small seed...

Just remember in the winter
far beneath the bitter snows
lies the seed ,
that with the sun's love
in the spring
becomes the rose..." _ Bette
