| A beautiful red rose left on my pillow in Hyatt, Muscat! |
I was a Rose and I grew in the desert,
Intense dazzling red in color,
Large were my petals and proud I was,
As I grew a beauty alone, much desired...
I cherished my youth for a few moments,
The wishful sighs of other competents,
I lived a dream many wish for,
An exquisite perfection much to adore...
My astounding beauty and luring scents,
The hollow joy of envied repents,
I basked in the warmth of the glorious sun,
I lived alone and cared for none...
And then I had a dream of a land,
So far, so distant, so calm, so grand!
There were crimson flowers smaller but many,
And frisky birds making merry...
Those fountains of water and endless rivers,
Those singing birds that gave me shivers,
They had friends, and resonant love,
They were what I didn't live above...
And as the time passed the dream became a Vision,
A lust, a hunger, a consuming obsession,
I tried in vain to achieve what wasn't mine,
The birds, the love, the water crystalline...
The pure, the untouched virgin beauty,
The mirth, the laughter, the abundance so lovely!
Smashed my pride in countless pieces,
I drooped, I swaggered as I knew my vices!
I tried again to brag my colors,
All in vain, I could feel the shudders!
And now I stand again as before,
Alone, desolate, dying, ignored...
